Soccer Season 2009

André and Ariana played soccer from the week of September 21st to November 14th. They practiced twice a week for an hour and played one or two games every Saturday morning. Jeremy and I had to split with the kids to be able to take them to their practices and games. Ariana practiced from 4 to 5 PM close to our house and André 5 to 6 PM about 6 miles from where we live. Naomi complained every time we had to go to soccer because it was cold, windy and sometimes raining (it rained for games but not for practice). Overall it was a good experience for the kids and we had a great time as a family.
André y Ariana jugaron fútbol de la semana del 21 de septiembre al 14 de noviembre. Practicaron dos veces a la semana por una hora y jugaron uno o dos juegos los sábados por la mañana. Jeremy y yo tuvimos que dividirnos con los niños para poder llevarlos a sus practices y juegos. Ariana practicaba de 4 a 5 pm cerca de la casa y André de 5 a 6 pm más o menos 6 millas de donde vivimos. Naomi quejó cada vez que teniamos que llevar a sus hermanos a jugar porque había frío, viento y lluvia (llovió en algunos juegos pero no en practicas). Al final fue una buena experiencia para los niños y la pasamos muy bien como familia.

ARIANA’S TEAM
Ariana had a good time playing except the times when she got hit with the ball (she cried every time). Unfortunately she didn’t have a good coach. The kids in her team weren’t very good and they lost every single game played. She was sad and disappointed so we had to explain to her that at her age the point was about playing and no winning.
Ariana se divirtió jugando, con excepción de las veces que la golpearon con la pelota (ella lloró cada vez). Desafortunadamente ella no tuvo una buena entrenadora. Los niños en su equipo no eran buenos para jugar y perdieron cada juego que jugaron. Ella estaba triste y desilusionada así que tuvimos que explicarle que a su edad el punto era jugar y no ganar.

ANDRE’S TEAM
André was selected to be the goalie for his team and also played midfielder position. They had a great coach who worked hard with them. All the kids played as a team, listened to the coach and did a great job every game. For the playoffs the game came down to two undefeated teams, the Sounders (André’s team) and the Stars. These two teams played twice during the season and tied both times 2-2 and 1-1. Final game of the playoffs tied again and went into a shootout (each team takes 5 shots at the goal). The Sounders won 4-3. André was Goalie and we were so nervous the whole time!
André fue seleccionado para ser el Portero de su equipo y también jugó la posición de medio campista. Ellos tuvieron un buen entrenador quien trabajó duro con ellos. Todos los niños jugaron como equipo, escucharon a su entrenador e jugaron bien cada vez. En las finales el equipo de André (Sounders) y los Stars jugaron para pelear el primer lugar. Ambos equipos fueron invictos los cuales jugar dos veces durante la temporada y empataron ambos juegos 2-2 y 1-1. En el ultimo juego empataron y tuvieron que ir a penalties (cada equipo toma 5 tiros al gol). Los Sounders ganaron 4-3. André era el Portero y nosotros estuvimos muy nervicios todo el tiempo!

Jeremy Receives an Award

On Monday November 2nd Jeremy was awarded an International Branding Award for the work he did in behalf of the City of Auburn (from the Communicator Awards). It represents 3 years worth of hard work. This night the Mayor of Auburn and City Council presented him the award with their thanks for a job well done.

El 2 de noviembre Jeremy recibió un premio internacional por el trabajo que hizo en nombre de la Ciudad de Auburn (del Communicator Awards). Este representa 3 años de duro trabajo. Esta noche el Alcalde de la Ciudad de Auburn y el Cónsul de la Ciudad le presentaron el premio con un agradecimiento por el buen trabajo realizado.

AT CHURCH

Our church had “trunk or treat” last week. André was the grim reaper, Ariana was a witch, Naomi a princess and Isabelle a giraffe. They had a lot of fun going around the parking lot asking for candy. Each of them filled up their pumpkins with candy.

Nuestra iglesia tuvo la celebración de Halloween la semana pasada. André fue la muerte, Ariana una bruja, Naomi una princesa e Isabelle una Jirafa. Ellos se divirtieron mucho yendo alrededor del parqueo pidiendo por dulces. Cada uno llenó sus calabazas de dulce.

Our church building is located about 3 minutes from our house... Isy was a sleep in 30 seconds.

HALLOWEEN PARTY AT THE LOER’S HOME

The annual Halloween party at our friend's, the Loers, has become a family tradition. Had a great party with a haunted grave yard candy hunt, pumpkin piñata, fog filled black light room and lots of food and fun.

La fiesta annual de Halloween en la casa de nuestros amigos, los Loers, se ha convertido en una tradición familiar. Tuvimos una fiesta con tumbas embrujadas en el jardín y busqueda de dulces, piñata de calabaza, cuarto con luces de neón y neblina y muchos dulces.

Ten birthdays in the USA!

I had a birthday on October 27th. I still feel like 24 though :o) This year was special because it was my 10th year celebrating my birthday in the United States. I came to Washington for the first time on October 20th, 1999. I was here for only 13 days and during that time I met Jeremy’s family, we went to Mt. Rainer, Disneyland in California, Space Needle, and Snoqualmie Falls. We fell in love and now here I am.

El 27 de octubre cumplí años. Todavía me siento como si tuviera 24 :o) Este año fue especial porque fue my décimo año celebrando mi cumpleaños en los Estados Unidos. Vine a Washington por primera vez un 20 de octubre de 1999. Estuve aquí por solo 13 días y durante ese tiempo conocí a la familia de Jeremy, fuimos a Mt. Rainer, Disneyland in California, Space Needle, and Snoqualmie Falls. Nos enamoramos y ahora aquí estoy.

My kids didn’t remember it was my birthday but after school I reminded them and they made me cards, gave kisses and hugs :o). Jeremy bought me flowers and after soccer practice took us all out for dinner. Grandma Kay and Grandpa Dave came to visit and got a cheese cake for me. I received a lot of phone calls from family and friends.

A mis hijos se les olvidó que era mi cumpleaños pero después de la escuela les recordé y me hicieron tarjetas y dieron abrazos y besos :o) Jeremy me compró flores y después de la práctica de futbol nos llevó a cenar. Los abuelitos vinieron a visitarme y me compraron un pastel de queso. Recibí muchas llamadas de familia y amigos.
